On Wednesdays starting September 11th, the Book Club will be returning. We will be reading C.S. Lewis “The Great Divorce”. This is a timeless novel about a bus ride from Hell to Heaven. The description is as follows: Lewis again employs his formidable talent for fable and allegory. The writer finds himself in Hell boarding a bus onward to Heaven. The amazing opportunity is that everybody who wants to stay in Heaven can. This is the starting point for an extraordinary meditation upon good and evil; grace and judgment. Lewis’ revolutionary idea is that the discovery of the gates of Hell are locked from the inside. In Lewis’ own words: “If we insist on keeping Hell (or even Earth) we shall not see Heaven: if we accept Heaven, we shall not be able to retain even the smallest and most intimate souvenirs of Hell”. This book will be challenging to read but rewarding to study. All are welcome to join us as we walk through this material together. You can buy a copy of the book for $10. You can even come if reading is not a passion of yours, but it is generally encouraged. This is a BYOBL (bring your own bagged lunch) event.
